E. Eileen Cook-Reid

E. Eileen Cook-Reid, 87, of Rensselaer, IN passed away peacefully at her home early Sunday morning, Dec. 24, 2023. She was born in Rensselaer on Jan. 25, 1936, the daughter of Earl Curnutt and Ruby J. (Kessler) Curnutt.

Her first marriage was to William N. Cook. He preceded her in death in 1985. Her second marriage was to Billy J. Reid. He passed away Monday, Dec. 25, 2023.

Eileen was a school bus driver for the Rensselaer Central School Corp. for many years. She enjoyed camping, sledding, travel and trains. She also loved bird watching, gardening and being outdoors.

She is survived by her three sons: Richard William Cook (Viola) of Lowell, IN, Randy Cook (Cindy) of Rensselaer, and Roger Earl Cook (Sue) of Rensselaer; nine grandchildren: Wendy Drinnon of Rutledge, TN, Jodie Briggs of Cedar Lake, IN, Grover Neal Cook (Melissa) of Lowell, Richard William Cook II (Ashley) of Kentland, IN, Madonna Vanderwall (Josh) of Fowler, IN, Brandee Moore (Kevin) of Rensselaer, Bradley Cook (Brandy) of Rensselaer, Sarah Henry (Dave) of Rensselaer, and Jennifer Carlson (Matt) of Morocco, IN; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Donald Curnutt (Sharon) of Monticello, IN; one sister, Kathy Mroczek (John) of Rensselaer; four nieces: Donna Epler (Stephanie) of Maryland, Donita Curnutt of Rantoul, IL, Carla Slentz (Greg) of Rensselaer; and Barbara Mroczek of Rensselaer; and one nephew, Mike (Kim) Mroczek of Monticello. Several great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband William N. Cook; one granddaughter, Candace Cook; one great-grandson, Ayden Cook; and her granddaughter Jodie’s fiancé, Jesse Ruiz.

Visitation will be Friday, December 29, 2023 from 2 – 7 p.m. at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer, with Pastor Debbie Voss officiating. Visitation from 9 a.m. until time of the funeral.
