Edythe Ownbey

Edythe E. Ownbey, age 92 of Rensselaer, passed away Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012 at Jasper County Hospital. She was born in Waverly, Iowa on Oct. 18, 1919, daughter of the late Elmer Ferguson Muir and Bertha Luella Colby Muir. She graduated from high school in Princeton, Illinois and went on to attend the Northern Baptist Seminary. She had previously lived in Thorntown and Goodland, Indiana, and was a resident of Rensselaer since 1963. Edythe was a homemaker and enjoyed baking, sewing, quilting, gardening and growing flowers.

Edythe is survived by three children: Linda Jane Ownbey Smith (husband: Barry) of Odessa, Texas, Randall Norman Ownbey of Rensselaer, Indiana, and Karen Elizabeth Ownbey Fallowfield (husband: Ron) of Poseyville, Indiana. Six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.

Visitation was Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012 at Steinke Funeral Home in Rensselaer. Funeral services were held at the funeral home on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Scott Chastain and Rodney Shephard officiating. Interment followed at Weston Cemetery in Rensselaer.
