Evelyn Miller

Evelyn J. Miller, age 79 of rural Rensselaer, passed away Saturday morning, March 19, 2011 at her home. She was born August 21, 1931 in Scotts, Michigan, daughter of the late Carl and Mildred (Cartwright) Vroman.

Evelyn was a graduate of the Portage, Michigan High School with the Class of 1948. On December 25, 1948 in Kalamazoo, Michigan she married Marvin E. Miller to whom she was married for 62 years. Marvin survives. Evelyn worked for the Civil Service for 10 years and was a Jasper County resident since 1950. Evelyn was associated with the First Baptist Church of Rensselaer and was a member of Women of the Moose and the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary.

Children surviving are Carolyn (Mrs. Pat) Staddon of Louisiana, JoAnn Miller of Rensselaer, Herb (wife: Linda) Miller of Wolcott, and Dave (wife: Vicki) Miller of Georgia. There are 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren surviving.

Preceding Evelyn in death were her parents, one brother and one sister.

Friends may call on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 from 10:00 A.M. until time of funeral service at 12:00 noon at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. Pastor Daniel Hester officiating. Interment will follow at Weston Cemetery in Rensselaer. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
