Finley Doyle Manns, affectionately known as Benj, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on April 24, 2026, in Lafayette, Indiana. Born on June 7, 1952, in Tip Top, Kentucky, Benj lived a life marked by warmth, humor, and a generous spirit that touched all who knew him.

Benj was a man of many passions and delights. He found joy in traveling to new places, walking with a sense of curiosity and purpose, savoring good food, and immersing himself in the rich tapestry of history. His old soul brought a unique perspective to life, one that combined wit and kindness in equal measure. Known for his loving, giving, and sweet nature, Benj had an infectious zest for life and a quick sense of humor that made every moment spent with him meaningful.

Professionally, Benj devoted many years to Sealy Springs, where his commitment and work ethic were renowned. His dedication reflected the same steadfast character that defined him in all areas of life.

Benj is survived by a loving family that cherished him deeply. He leaves behind one brother, Skid Manns, and five sisters: Sally Spencer, Henrietta (Jim) Bunkowfst, Karen (Gary) Peterson, Debbie (Daniel) Kaminga, and Vickie Manns. His legacy also lives on through many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, who will carry forward his memory with pride and affection.

He was preceded in death by his father Wed Manns and mother Rosie (Bailey) Manns, as well as six brothers: Gene Manns, Ellis Manns, Ralph Manns, Phillip Manns, Wayne Manns, and Scottie Manns. He was also preceded by three sisters: Pauline Manns, Dora Manns, and Linda Murillo, whose memories remain a cherished part of his story.

Friends and family will gather to honor Benj’s life at a visitation held on Friday, May 1, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. CDT at Steinke Funeral Home, located at 403 N. Front St., Rensselaer, Indiana. Following this, burial services will take place on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Bethel Hill Cemetery, 4001 W. 650 N, Thorntown, Indiana, beginning at 11:00 a.m. EDT.

Benj’s departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who knew him, yet his spirit endures in the laughter, love, and memories shared by all. His life was a testament to kindness, joy, and the enduring strength of family and friendship. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
