Francis Snow

Francis Loren Snow, age 83 of rural Rensselaer, passed away Friday evening, Nov. 11, 2011 at the Rensselaer Care Center. He was born in Jasper County on Nov. 12, 1927, son of the late Ivan Wesley and Lavina (Stanton) Snow. He was a lifelong area resident.


Francis attended the Jasper County Public Schools. On June 29, 1949 in Rensselaer, Francis married Elizabeth “Ann” Graham. She passed away on Oct. 28, 2006. Francis was a self-employed farmer. He also worked at Gehring Farms and Schumacher Electric for a number of years. Francis was affiliated with the Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall in Rensselaer. Francis was a devout student of the Bible. He enjoyed reading, especially books on history, and in his younger years he enjoyed painting pictures.


Surviving are children: Loren Snow (wife: Mattie) of Columbia City, Garth Snow (wife: Jane) of Thomson, GA, Cindy Hanford (husband: Larry) of Rensselaer and Kerry Snow (wife: Gay) of Lafayette. Sisters surviving are: Elsye Bray of Mooresville, Opal Jeanne Baier of Ft. Wayne, Glenda Edwards (husband, Tom) of South Bend, and Sharon Parrish of rural Rensselaer. Eight grandchildren and many great grandchildren also survive. Francis was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ann, and four brothers.


Graveside services will be Friday, Nov. 18, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. (CST) at Weston Cemetery, Robert Walker officiating. Memorials are suggested to the donor’s choice.
