Gerald E. "Jerry" Williams

Gerald E. “Jerry” Williams, 80, of Remington, IN passed away Thursday morning, October 10, 2024 at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, IN. He was born in Rensselaer, IN on June 28, 1944, the son of Raymond and Georgia (Durant) Williams.


Jerry attended school in DeMotte, IN. On October 27, 1965, in Crown Point, IN he married the love of his life, Linda Vaughn. He worked as a laborer and hod carrier in construction. He also drove a tow truck for the Lake County Sheriff’s Office for many years.


Jerry was a proud Mason. He was a member of the Remington Masonic Lodge #351, Libanus Lodge #154 in Monticello, York Rite of Freemasonry, Rensselaer Royal Arch Chapter #150, Adoniram Council #109, and J. W. Matthewson Commandry #66.


He was a member of the Christian Church of Remington and was also affiliated with the Remington United Methodist Church.


He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Linda Williams of Remington, IN; two sons, David (Diane) Williams of Wheatfield, IN and Christopher R. Williams of Wolcott, IN; two brothers, Jim (Deb) Williams of DeMotte, IN and John (Janice) Williams of Wheatfield, IN; one sister, Judy Justice of Corinth, MS; five grandchildren: Havannah (Kaden) Price of Wolcott, IN, Hayden Williams of Wolcott, IN, Dana Dykhuis of Lake Station, IN, Tina (Dustin) Curtis of Wheatfield, IN, and Zachary (Vicki) Williams of North Judson, IN; and five great-grandchildren: Jayden Dykhuis, Isabzbel Dykuis, Jazmine Brumley, Hunter Brumley, and Zachary Williams, Jr.


He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jack Williams and Joe Williams; and two sisters, Jane Hilton and Edna Hayes.


Friends are invited to visit with the family on Saturday, October 26, 2024 from 1 – 3 p.m. Central Time at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. A Celebration of Life service will begin promptly at 3 p.m. Central Time. Private interment will be at Weston Cemetery at a later date.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
