Gilbert E. Schultz, Jr., 75, of Rensselaer, IN passed away Friday, Jan. 19, 2024 at Witham Hospital in Lebanaon, IN. He was born in Gary, IN on April 8, 1948 to Gilbert E. Schultz, Sr. and Lelah B. (Warner) Schultz.
Junior was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a self-employed truck driver and was a member of the Remington American Legion and the Fowler VFW. He enjoyed attending car shows and was the proud owner of an award-winning Chevy Corvette. He enjoyed fishing and helping on the farm.
He is survived by Virginia “Jenny” Wilborn Schultz, the love of his life; his son, Derek (Alanda) Schultz of Calhoun, TN; step-son Bill Menigoz of Ft. Myers, FL; three sisters: Jean Lawrence of Cedar Lake, IN, Darlene Schultz of Momence, IL and Ermal Kennedy of Benton, KY; two brothers-in-law, Delbert (Sandy) Wilborn and Darrell Wilborn, both of Streator, IL; seven grandchildren: Dessa Pyrlik, David Pyrlik, Hayden Schultz, Lance Menigoz, Nicole (Devin) Farley, Ashley Menigoz and Michael Menigoz; one great-granddaughter, Annabella Farley; and several nieces and nephews. He was also a grandfather figure to Isaac, Benjamin, Jacob and Zachary Hillan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters: Carol Crabb-Martin, Myrtle Beseke and Lilah (Arlene) Tower.
