Gladys Armstrong

Gladys L. Armstrong, 88 of Gifford passed away on Monday, August 30, 2010 at Porter Hospital in Valparaiso. She was born December 5, 1921 in Jasper County, daughter of the late Charles and Stella (Nuss) Snow. Gladys was a lifetime Jasper County resident and graduated from Fair Oaks High School. On July 1, 1941 she married Mearle C. Armstrong. He preceded her in death on December 11, 1979. Gladys was a home maker and attended the Gifford Church of God. One daughter survives: Barbara (Billie) Hale of Portage. Two granddaughters survive: Shawnttel (Doningo) Bello of New Jersey and Tonya Whitlow of Chesterton. One sister also survives: Violet LaCosse of Fair Oaks. Preceding Gladys in death were her parents, her husband, a daughter, 3 brothers and 5 sisters. Visitation is at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer Saturday, September 4, 2010 from 8:30 AM until time of service at 10:00 AM with Pastor Gary Minard officiating. Interment follows at Wheatfield Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association. Proper envelopes may be procured at Steinke Funeral Home.
