Gladys Fiocchi (nee Rohrssen), age 95, of Rensselaer, IN (formerly of Elgin, IL) went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday evening, May 8, 2025.
She was born on September 13, 1929 in Elgin, IL, the daughter of the late Edward and Jennie Rohrssen. Except for a short period of time when she lived in Wisconsin Dells, WI, she lived in the Elgin, IL area during her entire life, prior to moving to Rensselaer, IN in 1993.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Phyllis Lovejoy of S. Elgin, IL and Alice Coleman of Elgin, IL, and two brothers, Howard Rohrssen of Bradenton, FL (formerly of Elgin, IL) and Leslie Rohrssen of Elgin, IL.
Her first marriage was to George Hansen, with whom she had three children. In 1971, she was married to Elio Fiocchi, who preceded her in death in November of 2006.
Survivors include two sons: Larry (Judy) Hansen of Rensselaer, IN and Robert (Kathy) Hansen of Englewood, CO, a daughter, Gayle (Paul) Machowski of Winfield, IN; thirteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and twelve nieces and nephews. Also surviving are a stepdaughter, Tanda (Jeff) Fiocchi/Azbill, a stepson, Rori Fiocchi, and a step-grandchild, Trayten Azbill, all of Texas.
Gladys graduated from Plato Center (IL) High School in 1946. Except for brief periods when she worked outside the home, her life was her family and her church, Elgin Evangelical Free Church of Elgin, IL and Tri-County Bible Church, of Rensselaer, IN where she formerly served as an AWANA leader and Sunday School teacher at both churches.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tri-County Bible Church, Rensselaer, IN.
Visitation will be Friday, May 16, 2025 from 10 a.m. until noon (Central Time), with funeral immediately following at noon at Tri-County Bible Church, 5856 W. 1050 S, Rensselaer, IN 47978. Reverend Larry B. Hansen officiating. Interment will be Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Bluff City Cemetery in Elgin, IL.
