Gregory “Greg” B. Lintner, “Bubba”, 72, of Lafayette, Indiana, passed away Sunday evening, September 8, 2024 at Franciscan Health Lafayette East. He was born in Rensselaer, Indiana on January 23, 1952, the son of Daryl M. and Marjorie F. (Jones) Lintner.
He was a graduate of Rensselaer Central High School where he was a standout athlete in track, football and softball. Greg holds the record for shotput at Rensselaer Central High School. After high school he attended Middle Tennessee University, where he was also an athlete, graduating with his B.S. in business.
On December 31, 1993, in Florida, he married the love of his life, Judith A. “Judy” Hofsteadter.
Greg grew up working in his parents’ bakery, Daryl’s Pastry Shop in downtown Rensselaer, which he took over after his parents’ retirement. Greg left Daryl’s in 2005 and moved to Lafayette to open O’Rear’s.
He was a member of the First Christian Church of Rensselaer and sang in the church choir. He was a fan of Purdue Sports as well as the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs. He liked having a brand-new car and he enjoyed trying out new restaurants with his family. He was a loving husband, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Judy Lintner; four children: Maria (James) Luttrell, Candace (Michael) Samaniego, Justin R. Lintner (Wenona Campbell), and Hollie Lintner; eleven grandchildren: Ashley (Alex) Clerget, Porsha (Angela) Rosa-Streets, Madyson Richie, Jaylynn (Austen) Conley, Devotchka, Draven, Bryce McClain, Andi McClain, Aiden Dallinger, Aubrielle Dallinger, and Emily Watson; and six great-grandchildren: Brayden, Maci, Keagan, Weston, Willow, and Zagan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and one grandson, Kobe.
The family is planning a memorial service for a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
