H Scott Clark, 86, of Morocco, IN passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, December 11, 2024 at Franciscan Health Lafayette East. He was born in Morocco on May 14, 1938, the son of Vance and Gartha (Hanger) Clark. He was a graduate of Mt. Ayr High School.
On April 25, 1959, in Lake Village, IN Scott married the love of his life, Sharen Sypult. They were married for 65 wonderful years until her passing on June 7, 2024. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and his parents-in-law, George and Leona Sypult.
He is survived by his three children: King (Kelly) Clark of Morocco, IN, Jennifer (Bill) Bailey of Crown Point, IN and Hugh (Aurora) Clark of Rensselaer, IN; seven grandchildren: Megan (Ryan) Dorton of West Lafayette, IN, Anna Clark of West Lafayette, IN, Courtney (Brice) Willey of Fishers, IN, Shelby (Brandon) Wagner of Zionsville, IN, Brandi Wynn of Morocco, IN, Haylee (Kody) Wilson of Brook, IN and Merrissa Clark of Battle Ground, IN; and three brothers: Gary (Sharell) Clark of Morocco, IN, Kirk (Holly) Clark of Columbus, IN, and Dane (Diane) Clark of Boling Springs, TN. Nine great-grandchildren also survive: Griffin and Arden Dorton, Logan and Cameron Willey, Drew, Luke and Elijah Wagner, Landon Wynn and Auden Wilson.
Scott was a farmer through and through. He spent his life working the land, and there was nothing he loved more than being out in the fields. Morning usually started with coffee and catching up with his farmer friends – swapping stories and visiting at the coffee shop.
When he wasn’t farming, Scott could often be found with a book in his hand, playing a game of bridge, or watching Purdue basketball (he never missed a game if he could help it). For years, he also helped his daughter’s family with their lemonade shake-up stand, becoming a familiar face to so many who looked forward to seeing him there.
Scott was a proud member of the JC Cruisers Car Club and took great joy in showing off his beloved ’55 Chevy. His passion for classic cars and the friendships he built through the club were a special part of his life.
Scott never knew a stranger. He could strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere, and he had a way of making people feel like old friends within minutes. Everyone who met him would tell you the same thing: he was the nicest guy you’d ever meet. His kindness and gift for connection will be missed by everyone lucky enough to have known him.
