Homer Glenn Banister, age 84 of Roselawn, passed away Thursday evening, Nov. 10, 2011 at Autumn Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center in Roselawn with his loving family by his side. He was born Jan. 6, 1927, son of the late Harrison and May (Erb) Banister. He was a lifelong area resident.
Homer Glenn attended school in Morocco. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. On July 14, 1950 in Rensselaer he married Jennie L. Hetrick. She preceded him in death of May 28, 2003. Homer Glenn worked as a farm hand for Clark Farms of Wheatfield for many years, and was an employee of the Jasper County Farm Bureau for over 20 years. He loved listening to Gospel music and the Word of the Lord. He enjoyed gardening, paint by numbers, and playing bingo with his friends.
Surviving are two daughters, Wanda Albright (husband: Melvin) of Roselawn and Janet Banister of Rensselaer; a son, Steven Banister of Rensselaer; and a sister, Margaret Faye Perkins (husband: Gail) of Kokomo. Three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive.
Homer Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jennie, his sister Elizabeth Rogers, and three brothers: Erbie, Gordon, and Robert Banister.
Graveside services will be Thurs., Nov. 17, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery of Rensselaer, Pastor Joel Zuidema officiating. Memorials are suggested to the family.
