James Edward Camblin passed away peacefully on May 6, 2026 at the age of 105, surrounded by family. Born Aug. 17, 1920, to Lawson and Jessie Camblin, Ed lived a life centered on family, hard work, service, and friendship.
Ed shared 80 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Marcheta. They were married on May 21, 1945. Together they raised their daughter, Marsha, and built a life that inspired many. A lifelong resident of Morocco, Ed graduated from Morocco High School in 1939 and was its oldest living alumni.
A proud veteran, Ed honorably served in the United States Navy during World War II as part of the amphibious force in the European theater. He participated in four major and one minor battle and received a Purple Heart. After the war, he worked as a rural mail carrier and farmer. In retirement, Ed and Marcheta enjoyed spending their winters in Florida fishing together and creating lasting memories.
Ed was well known for his fishing accomplishments, especially at Willow Slough, a place he helped build and where he was among the first to fish. He spent countless hours on the water and became known for his incredible success catching bass. In 1960, he was featured in Outdoor Life magazine for his bass fishing success.
More than anything, Ed loved spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed a good fish fry and sharing laughter with those around him. He will be remembered for his humor, kindness, dedicated service, and the deep love he shared with everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Ed is survived by his daughter, Marsha (Jerry) Vaughn, grandson Eric Warrick, granddaughter Heather (Tom) Doyle, great grandchildren Jordan (Brooke) Doyle and Kayla (Konnor) Wilson, and great great granddaughter Blaire Doyle. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcheta, his parents, and his brother, Don.
