James Marvin Ulm

James Marvin Ulm, 75, of Rensselaer, Indiana passed away Thursday evening, April 11, 2024 at Franciscan Health Lafayette East. He was born in Rensselaer on November 12, 1948, the son of Marvin Francis Ulm and Dixie Kathleen (Salyers) Ulm. He was a graduate of DeMotte High School.

Jim worked construction alongside his uncle Max. He used to enjoy league bowling and he was an avid sports fan. The Bears, Cubs, and Purdue were some of his favorite teams. He loved spending time with his family; enjoying banana splits from Busy Bee; and eating pizza from Pizza King.

He is survived by his three children: Tara Cochran (Tom Martinez), Heather Banks and Aaron (Amanda) Ulm; six grandchildren: Haley Cochran, Connor (Audionna) Cochran, Peyton (Greg) Banks, Tessa Jackson, Duncan Cochran, and Bryce Banks; eight great-grandchildren: Carson Cochran, Amelia Cochran, Cahleel Cochran, Magnolia Jackson, Jordyn Cochran, Lincoln Cochran, Aberdeen Banks, and Landan Cochran; one sister, Becky (Dave) Walter; one brother, Tony Ulm; and the mother of his children, Mattie Snow.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Joe Ulm and Mike Ulm; one great-grandson, Kolt Jackson; and one nephew, Jamie Wicker.

Friends are invited to visit with the family on Saturday, April 20, 2024 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. (Central Time) at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. A Time of Remembrance will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 12 p.m. (Central Time). Everyone is encouraged to wear jeans and your favorite sports shirt.

Friends and family are invited to enjoy Pizza King in the fellowship hall at Trinity United Methodist Church immediately following the service.
