Jim Estes

Jim Estes, Sr., 92, of Chesterton, IN, formerly of Lake Village, passed away Monday, Dec. 6, 2021 at Addison Pointe Health & Rehabilitation in Chesterton. He was born in Murfreesboro, TN on Oct. 27, 1929, the son of John Floyd and Emmie (Bain) Estes, Sr.

Jim served in the Tennessee National Guard from 1950-1955. His marriage was to Flora Ann Simanson on May 13, 1955. She preceded him in death on Dec. 29, 2020. He worked in fabrication at Calumet Steel in Chicago Heights. He enjoyed gardening and cars.

He is survived by four children: Cindy (Sallia) Estes of Chesterton, Jim Estes, Jr., Steve (Kathy) Estes and Terry Coldiron; one brother, John Floyd (Carolyn) of Murfreesboro, TN; and three sisters: Novie Brewer of Murfreesboro, TN, Hattie Simanson (Russell) of Woodbury, TN and Allie Mae Rhodes (Doris) of Lebanon, TN. 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Floyd and Emmie Estes, Sr.; his wife Flora Ann Estes; one son, Joseph Estes; two brothers, James and Houston; two sisters, Mandy and Martha; and infant granddaughter Kelly Ann.
