John Hoaks

John Francis Hoaks, 76, of Morocco, passed away at his home on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, after a long illness. He was born in Foresman on Nov. 1, 1935, son of the late Cecil and Lela (Sparger) Hoaks.

A lifelong area resident, John was a tree trimmer and welder until his retirement in 1984. He enjoyed mowing, gardening, and watching Nascar. He will be truly missed by his family and friends.

On June 27, 2009 John married his companion of 45 years, Georgia Johnson Hoaks, and she survives. Also surviving are seven children: Rick Hoaks of Mt. Ayr, Ron Hoaks (Angie) of South Bend, Rhonda Goad of Indianapolis, Janet (Larry) Ross of Seymour, Steve (Kathy) Johnson of Rensselaer, Elverna Cummings of Seymour, and Cheryl (Jerry) Moore of Morocco. John is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, one daughter, one son and one grandson.

Friends may call on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012 from 3 – 7 p.m. CDT at Steinke Funeral Home of Morocco. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, Oct. 22, 2012 at 11 a.m. CDT at the funeral home with Pastor David Hollis and Deacon Dean Hoaks officiating. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Jasper County Hospital Home Health Care and Hospice.
