Kenneth Leon Gastineau

November 10, 1938 — June 25, 2020

Kenneth Leon “Gus” Gastineau, 81, of Rensselaer, Indiana went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 25, 2020. He was born in Rensselaer on November 10, 1938, the son of Robert R. Gastineau and Zelma E. (Carlton) Gastineau. He was a 1956 graduate of Rensselaer High School.


On August 27, 1960, he married the love of his life, Shirley A. Richards at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Rensselaer. They would have celebrated their 60th anniversary this August.


Gus worked as a burn table operator at Talbert Trailer for 43 years. He attended Trinity United Methodist Church. He enjoyed attending activities at the Community Center and going out to eat with friends on Friday nights.


He is survived by his loving family: wife Shirley Gastineau; four children: Jeff (Tricia) Gastineau, Karen Gastineau, David Gastineau and Dan (Lisa) Gastineau; five grandchildren: Steffen, Taylor, Simmeon, Ezekiel and Elijah. Also surviving are two brothers, Ellis (Marsha) Gastineau and Glen Gastineau; one sister, Wilma Gastineau; one brother-in-law, Bob Shanks; and one sister-in-law, Janet Smith.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Zelma Gastineau; two brothers, Marvin Gastineau and Nolen Gastineau; and one sister, Nelda Shanks.


Visitation will be Monday, June 29, 2020 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 29, 2020 at 12 p.m. at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer with Mike Knoerzer officiating. The family requests all those who attend to wear patriotic attire. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
