Lester Ivan Wortley

Lester Ivan Wortley, 93, of Rensselaer, IN passed away Monday evening, July 14, 2025 at Autumn Trace Assisted Living. He was born in Gary, IN on October 24, 1931, the son of Lester Wortley and Gladys (Kennedy) Armold. He was a 1949 graduate of Mt. Ayr High School.

On November 11, 1950, in Rensselaer, he married Marlene Wilson. She preceded him in death on March 25, 2018.

Lester was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of the Mt. Ayr Methodist Church and was affiliated with the Wolcott Methodist Church. He enjoyed playing golf and horseshoes.

He is survived by his four children: Vicki (Lou) Nagel, Scott (Roxanne) Wortley, Heidi (Jim) Nelsen and Brian (Tracy) Wortley; four sisters: Clara (Larry) Berenda, Wanda Patton, Bonnie (Don) Baldwin and Connie Hogue. Twelve grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter also survive.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene Wortley; his parents, Lester Wortley and Gladys Armold; his sister, Emma Devalk; and two step-brothers, Harry Dale Armond and James Armold.

Visitation will be Friday, August 1, 2025 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. (CDT) at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. A graveside service will follow at 12:15 p.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery with Mary Kay Emmrich officiating.
