Linda Jo Murillo (née Manns), a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and devoted wife, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2026, in Lafayette, Indiana. Born on October 26, 1954, in Ivyton, Kentucky, Linda lived a life marked by love, strength, bravery, and deep faith.
Linda was renowned for her generous and loving nature, touching the hearts of all who knew her. Her faith was a guiding force throughout her life, giving her strength in times of challenge. She found immense joy in her family, which she cherished above all else. Linda was a talented artist in her own right, delighting in playing guitar, singing, and writing songs that expressed her soulful spirit. She also treasured the time spent with her grandchildren and shared a special bond with her beloved dog, Coco.
Her family was the richest part of her life. Linda is lovingly remembered by her husband, David Murillo, whose partnership she treasured deeply. She was a devoted mother to her three daughters: Tina Countryman (and her husband Josh), Kasey Buchanan (and her husband Matthew), and Alisha Murillo (partner Kasey Riha). Her heart expanded even more with her three grandchildren: Rogan Countryman, Berkeley Gettys, and Aidyn Murillo, who brought her great happiness. Linda's close-knit family circle also included her brother, Skid Manns, and her five sisters: Sally Spencer; Henrietta Bunkowfst (and her husband Jim); Karen Peterson (and her husband Gary); Debbie Kaminga (and her husband Daniel); and Vickie Manns, who will all carry forward her legacy of love and kindness.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wed and Rosie (Bailey) Manns, who shaped the values and character she carried throughout her life. Linda also mourned the loss of seven brothers—Gene, Ellis, Ralph, Phillip, Wayne, Scottie, and Finley Manns—and two sisters, Pauline and Dora Manns.
A visitation to honor and remember Linda will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. CDT at Steinke Funeral Home, located at 403 N. Front St., Rensselaer, Indiana. Following this, a graveside service will take place on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. EDT at Bethel Hill Cemetery, 4001 W. 650 N, Thorntown, Indiana.
Linda’s enduring strength, faith, and generosity were the cornerstones of a life well-lived. She leaves behind a precious legacy of love, music, and devotion to her family that will forever inspire those who knew her. Her memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all she touched.
