Linda Joyce Watson, of Morocco, IN, born on April 7, 1944, passed away peacefully on Feb. 24, 2026 at the age of 81. Linda will be remembered fondly by her family and friends for her unwavering love for children and her dedication to nurturing their spirits. As a cherished babysitter, she devoted significant time to watching children in her home and in the nursery at The River Church in Morocco, where she attended.
Linda was united in marriage to her beloved husband, Charles, on Sept. 22, 1962. Their bond was one of profound affection, and Charles predeceased her on May 5, 2016, leaving behind cherished memories that continue to spark warmth in the hearts of those who knew them.
She was known for her witty humor and calm demeanor, qualities that endeared her to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Linda cherished her family deeply, demonstrating a protective instinct and an unwavering commitment to their well-being.
An avid crafter, Linda found joy in creating beautiful jewelry, crocheting, and baking. Her green thumb also allowed her to enjoy planting flowers that brought beauty to her surroundings and happiness to her loved ones.
Linda leaves behind a loving family, including her son, Rick (Kim) Watson; daughter, Shelia (Johnny) Robinson; and six grandchildren: Jonathan (Angela) Watson, Brently Watson, Derak Wireman, Kegan Watson, Terry (Rachel) Allison, and Steven (Tara) Allison. She also took great pride in her eleven great-grandchildren: Caydence, Taylor, Kylie, Austin, Jayden, Cody, Elijah, Triton, Christopher, Annabella, and Laurel, along with one great-great-grandson, Dakota. She is survived by her two brothers, Jake Sargent and Hale Sargent; two sisters, Iris Casper and Mary Webb; and one brother-in-law, Gary (Sara) Watson.
Linda joins her beloved husband, Charles Watson; her father, Gilbert Sargent; her mother, Garnett Sargent; and her sister, Lula Deardurff, in eternal rest.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, at Oakland Cemetery in Morocco, IN, beginning at 1:00 PM. Rev. Joshua Cowan officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The River Church. Steinke Funeral Home is honored to be handling the arrangements.
