Loretta Rowland

Loretta Rowland, 62, of Rensselaer, Indiana passed away peacefully on Monday evening, December 21, 2020 at Franciscan Health Rensselaer. She was born in Elmhurst, Illinois on February 21, 1958, daughter of the late Sanford Lykins II and Rosemary (Whitten) Lykins. She was a 1976 graduate of North Newton High School.

On August 20, 1977, in Lake Village, Indiana she married James Ronald “Ron” Rowland. He preceded her in death on November 4, 2007. Loretta was a homemaker. She also worked for many years at Strack & Van Til, where she made many lifelong friendships. She enjoyed cooking, listening to Blues music, and having coffee at Willow Switch. She loved her family dearly, and often said that she couldn’t have picked better matches for her children to marry. She loved being a grandmother to her two precious grandbabies, Maverick and Jenson. And she adored her four dogs.

She is survived by her three children: Joshua (Bridget) Rowland of Hobart, Indiana, Jacob (Rachel) Rowland of Flossmoor, Illinois, and Adreanna (Nicholas) Randolph of Rensselaer, Indiana; two grandsons, Maverick James Randolph and Jenson James Rowland; two brothers, David (Tami) Lykins of Antioch, Illinois and Sanford Lykins III of Carol Stream, Illinois; and two sisters, Rose (Joseph) Krampen of Pennsylvania and Annette (Timothy) Stensland of Badger, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and twin daughters, Rachel and Jessica Rowland.

Visitation will be Tuesday, December 29, 2020 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. (CST) at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. Due to the pandemic, only 25 people will be allowed inside at any one time. Face masks and social distancing are required. All other services will be private.
