Margaret Hoskins

Margaret E. Hoskins, age 93 of Morocco, passed away Tuesday morning, May 29, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Kentland on July 15, 1918, the daughter of Fred and Elizabeth (Kirsch) Prue. She was a lifelong resident of Newton County.

Margaret graduated from A. J. Kent High School in Kentland with the Class of 1936. On Nov. 22, 1941, in Kentland, she married her husband of nearly 50 years, Ollie James Hoskins. He preceded her in death on Oct. 13, 1991. Margaret was a homemaker and loved being the wife of a farmer. She loved her family dearly, especially her precious grandkids. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kentland and she had a very strong Catholic faith.

Margaret is survived by: two daughters, Joyce (Stewart) Hammel of Morocco and Dr. Janice Mallory of Rensselaer; daughter-in-law Gail Hoskins of Morocco; and eight grandchildren: Tammy (Tim) Burns, Todd (Pam) Hammel, Tabatha (Jared) Hall, Jim (Kelli) Hoskins, Steve (Kendra) Hoskins, Brian (Kristen) Hoskins, Meghan (Joseph) De Urso, and Nick Mallory. Eleven great-grandchildren also survive: Brendan and Brock Burns, Jarrett and Jay Hammel, Payton and Connor Hall, Trent and Luke Hoskins, and Hannah, Hailey and Averie Hoskins. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Fred and Elizabeth Prue; her husband Ollie Hoskins; son James Hoskins; son-in-law Stephen Mallory; and sister Dorothy Murphy.

Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, May 31, 2012 from 4 – 7 p.m. CDT at Steinke Funeral Home Brunton Chapel of Morocco. A Rosary Service will be held at the funeral home immediately prior to the visitation at 3:45 p.m. Funeral Mass will be Friday, June 1, 2012 at 11 a.m. CDT at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 409 E. Allen St. in Kentland, with Father Rob Bernotas officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Donations in Margaret’s memory are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
