Matthew Matthes

Matthew Alexander Matthes, age 19 of Winamac and a student at St. Joseph College, passed away November 4, 2009 at Clarian Arnett Hospital in Lafayette. He was born in Logansport on August 8, 1990, a son of John Albert Matthes and the late Nadine G. (Mooney) Matthes. He was a lifetime resident of Winamac and graduated from the North Judson - San Pierre High School in 2009. He was a freshman at St. Joseph College in Rensselaer. He loved skate boarding, playing drums, baseball, golf and fishing. He was an Alter Boy at his church. Surviving are his father, John Albert Matthes, Sr. of Winamac and 10 brothers and sisters; Robert A., Ellen B., John J. Jr., Freddie A., Kit A., all of Winamac; Rebecca P. Galyk of Murfeesboro, TN, Charles A. Armstrong of Kouts, Jennifer C. of Lafayette, Bridget A. of Indianapolis, Natalie R. (special friend Jason Talaga) of Kokomo. 8 nieces and nephews also survive. Preceding him in death was his mother. Friends may call from 2 until 8 P.M. November 13th at St. Joseph College in Rensselaer. Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. November 14th at St. Joseph College in with internment following at St. Peters Cemetery in Winamac.
