Matthew Joseph Serna

Matthew Joseph Serna, 35, of Kentland, Indiana passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 20, 2024 as the result of an auto accident. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on February 23, 1989, the son of Mark S. Jaroch, Sr. and Tammy L. Serna.

On December 13, 2014 he married Kayla Ranee Serna. Matt drove a truck for Ulyat Trucking of Remington. He loved driving his truck and had wanted to be a truck driver his whole life. A big White Sox fan, he enjoyed listening to music, being outdoors, and hanging out with his kids. Matt was very social and was always the life of the party. To know Matt was to love him.

He is survived by his wife, Kayla Serna; his two children, Madison and Carter; his father, Mark (Angie) Jaroch, Sr.; his mother, Tammy Serna; two brothers, Mark (Alyssa) Jaroch, Jr. and Brandon (Kylie) Serna; one sister, Gianna Jaroch; his mother-in-law, Shelly (Kim) Boyce; one brother-in-law, JJ Jennings; two sisters-in-law, Tessa Leddy and Sammy Leddy; and seven nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Cory Lee James Jaroch and Dylan Michael Jaroch.

Visitation will be Friday, April 26, 2024 from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. (CDT), and again on Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 12 p.m. until time of funeral at 2 p.m. (CDT) at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. Following the funeral there will be a Celebration of Life and last CB call at the Kentland Community Center.
