Minnie Weltzin

Minnie O. Weltzin, 100, of Rensselaer, passed away Thursday evening, Sept. 13, 2012 at Jasper County Hospital Alternacare. She was born in Francesville on Feb. 29, 1912, daughter of the late William J. and Emma (Topp) Tiede. She was a lifelong Jasper and Pulaski County resident. On Jan. 27, 1934, in Medaryville, she married Ralph C. Weltzin. He preceded her in death on Nov. 5, 1997. Minnie was a homemaker and attended the Trinity United Methodist Church.


Minnie is survived by a son, Tom Weltzin (wife: Bonnie) of Helena, AL, and a daughter, JoAnn Shook (husband: Lynn) of Rensselaer. Eleven grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Melvin “Mel” Weltzin, one grandson, three brothers and five sisters.


Friends may call on Monday, Sept. 17, 2012 from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m. at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer, with Rev. John Hostetter officiating. Interment will follow at Roseland Cemetery in Francesville. Memorials are suggested to Trinity United Methodist Church.
