Opal Dowty

Opal F. Dowty, 94, of Morocco, passed away Friday evening, July 20, 2012 at George Ade Memorial Health Care Center in Brook. She was born on April 21, 1918, daughter of the late Charles A. and Anna M. (Jessen) Brewer. She was a lifelong area resident. Opal graduated from Morocco High School with the Class of 1936. Her marriage was to Bernard “Paul” Dowty. He preceded her in death. Opal worked for many years as a clerk at the Morocco Ben Franklin Store. She enjoyed crocheting and growing flowers in her garden.

Opal is survived by two sons, Ronald L. Dowty (wife: Susan) of Rolling Meadows, IL and Larry K. Dowty of Morocco; and five grandchildren: Amanda J. Dowty, Allison M. Dowty, David J. Dowty, Paul S. Dowty and Alexandra Dowty. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Duane P. Dowty; and her three siblings: Cecil Dunlop, Freda Brewer and Albert H. Brewer.

Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 from 10 a.m. until time of services at 2 p.m. at Steinke Funeral Home Brunton Chapel of Morocco, Rev. Greg Waggoner officiating. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
