Patricia Ann Toben, 81, of Rensselaer, Indiana passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, November 7, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Rensselaer on February 26, 1943, the daughter of Riley E. and Lucille (Spall) Bilyeu.
Pat was a 1961 graduate of Goodland High School. On October 15, 1961, in Goodland, she married the love of her life, Allen Toben.
Pat started her career as a dental assistant for Dr. Steve Henley, DDS. She then transitioned into advertising sales, first for Rensselaer radio stations WRIN/WLQI, and then for the Rensselaer Republican and Newton County Enterprise newspapers. She was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for several years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Red Hat Society, and the American Cancer Society. She had also served as a Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed collecting owls, going out for coffee, traveling, and being with her family.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Allen Toben of Rensselaer; her two daughters, Debbie Peck (Jim Shanley) of Rensselaer and Dayna Toben of Fort Wayne; four grandchildren: Ambyr Mayberry of Cambridge City, Indiana, Alina Misch of Rensselaer, Austin (Alyssa) Valade of Fort Wayne, and Abby (Brady) Western of Fort Wayne; and ten great-grandchildren: Bailey Wiltfang, Lilly Misch (fiancé Allen Barton), Silas Mayberry, Cecelia Mayberry, Adaline Valade, Grant Valade, Maeve Valade, Rivka Valade, Kennedy Western, and Lincoln Western.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be Friday, November 15, 2024 from 9 a.m. until time of funeral at 11 a.m. at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. Pastor Dennis Morros officiating. Burial will follow at Welsh Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Autumn Trace of Rensselaer or Haven Hospice of DeMotte.
