Phyllis Kosta

PARR -- Phyllis E. Kosta, 84, a lifelong resident of Parr, died at 7:07 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at Jasper County Hospital. She had been ill the past five years.

Born Feb. 20, 1926, in Hammond, she was the daughter of the late Lightel and Pauline Lange Whitaker. She graduated from Fair Oaks High School in 1944.

On Sept. 1, 1945, she married Edward L. Kosta Jr. in Rensselaer, and he survives.

Mrs. Kosta was a homemaker, and was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church of Rensselaer.

Surviving with her husband are three daughters, Janis Sampson (husband: Verne) of Wheatfield, Karen Puchle (husband: Eugene) of Brownsburg and Linda Herman (husband: Ron) of Atlanta, Ga.

Services will be held Saturday, July 3 at Steinke Funeral Home, Rensselaer Chapel at 11 a.m. with Father Tim McFarland officiating. Burial at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
