Ray Salyer

Ray Salyer, age 70 of Gifford passed away Monday morning November 3, 2008 at Clarian Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, IN. He was born in Salyersville, KY on September 1, 1938 a son of the late Roy Salyer and Roxie (Huff) Salyer of Gifford. He had lived in Jasper County for 64 years and attended the Kniman Schools. He was employed with U.S. Steel in Gary for 44 years before his retirement. In November, 1959, he married his first wife the late Viney Patrick. She passed away July 10, 1993. On January 1, 2006 in Watseka, IL he married Norma Williams. She survives. He was a member of the Gifford Church of God and had served faithfully as Treasurer for several years. Memorials in Ray's memory may be made to the Gifford Church of God. Ray was a wonderful, loving brother in Christ who will sadly missed by his wife, family and all the friends he made during his lifetime. They are comforted knowing Ray is with the Lord and Savior he loved and served during his lifetime.
