Robert Roy Sutton, affectionately known as Bob, passed away on October 11, 2026, at his home in Rensselaer, Indiana, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 12, 1956, in Highland, Indiana.
Bob was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy. He later worked for many years at Donaldson's warehouse in Rensselaer, and following his retirement, he remained deeply rooted in the family he loved so much. His life was marked by simple pleasures and the people closest to him. He enjoyed swimming, family vacations, and watching NASCAR.
Those who knew Bob will remember a man with a strong and unmistakable personality. He loved his family deeply. He was a real jokester, a bit eccentric, and often blunt, with a way of speaking and living that was entirely his own. Bob approached life with conviction and a memorable spirit that left a lasting impression on those around him.
Above all, Bob was a devoted family man. He is survived by his loving wife, Ellen Sutton, and his six children: Corey (Tisha) Sutton, Chelsea Sutton, Katie (Lance) Patterson, Holly Gray (Manny Monson), Jenny (Emilio) Cruz, and Nikki (Michael) Hughes. He is also survived by his brother, Don Sutton, and by his twenty-three cherished grandchildren: Emmalynn, Elaina, Leo, Cyrus, Corbin, Kolton, Lennox, Lucas, Kinley, Abigail, Juliet, Madeline, Peyton, Chloe, Aidan, Mckenna, Ava, Jay, Aleah, Ryan, Ryatt, Ryder, and Kenslee. His family brought him great pride, and his love for them was a defining part of his life.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Sutton; his mother, Doris (Bathurst) Sutton; and his sister, Margaret.
