Rose Ann Hageman

Rose Ann Hageman, 85, of Rensselaer, passed away at her home on Sunday, Feb. 19, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Poland, IN on Feb. 3, 1932, the daughter of Ross M. and Mary Caroline (Pullen) Paris. She graduated from Quincy High School in Quincy, IN. She had been a resident of Rensselaer since 1953.

On April 14, 1973, in Lake Village, she married Harold “Gus” Hageman. He preceded her in death on Feb. 7, 2015. Rose was a homemaker and a factory worker. She had worked for 18 years at Better Coil in Goodland, and 12 years for Schumacher Electric Corp. in Rensselaer, retiring in 1992. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #1279, and had served as the treasurer for 13 years. She enjoyed shopping, gardening, and spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed a family trip to the East Coast in 2016, visiting Gettysburg, PA, Norfolk, VA, and Washington, DC, where she was very taken with the National Cathedral. Rose was the matriarch of five generations. Her daughter Becky was the most important person in the world to her.

Rose is survived by her loving family: two sons, Richard “Rick” (Martha) Robbins of Dayton, OH and Randall “Randy” (Sheena) Robbins of Rensselaer; one daughter, Rebecca K. “Becky” Robbins of Rensselaer; eight grandchildren: Joy (Dennis) Stone of Rensselaer, Amber (Aaron) Matthies of Troy, OH, Courtney (Ed) Carlisle of Dayton, OH, Zachary (Kylie) Robbins of Richmond, VA, Amber Baker of Rensselaer, Randy Baker of Springfield, OH, Jackie Bliss and Jason Bliss, both of Atlanta, GA; 19 great-grandchildren: Ashley (Joshua) Bell of Stockbridge, MI, Chelsea Hughes – studying in England, Tanner Stone – a student at the University of Indianapolis, Trenton Stone – a student at Saint Joseph’s College, Tessa Stone of Rensselaer, Acey Runyan of Springfield, OH, Kayden Baker of Dayton, OH, Anastasia Baker of Springfield, OH, Avery, Millie, and Roz Mayo, all of Troy, OH, Sophia, Samantha, and Sylvia Matthies, all of Troy, OH, James, Bodhi, and Libby Robbins, all of Richmond, VA, and Jaiden and Jocelyn Bliss, both of Dayton, OH; one great-great-granddaughter, Charlotte Ann Bell of Stockbridge, MI; sister-in-law and dear friend Ruth Prentice Paris Duncan of Martinsville, IN; and her “grand dog” Hunni.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Ross M. and Mary Caroline Paris; husband Harold “Gus” Hageman; two sisters, Helen Delacruz and Florence Cook; and five brothers: Norman Kester, Ross M. Paris, Jr., Ralph Paris, Clyde Paris, and Robert Paris.

Friends are invited to visit with the family on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017 from 1-3 p.m. (CST) at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. A memorial service for Rose will be held on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017 at 3 p.m. (CST) at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer with Chaplain Bob Rawlins officiating.
