Sandra G. “Sandy” Cady, 73, of Osceola, Indiana passed away at 3:10 p.m. Friday, August 9, 2024 at Holy Cross Rehabilitation and Wellness Center in South Bend, Indiana. She was born on March 18, 1951 in Rensselaer, Indiana to Gailard and Phyllis (Standish) Hickman.
She married Gaylord A. “Butch” Cady on November 1, 1969. He preceded her in death on February 15, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Darlene K. James on April 9, 1977, and her parents.
Sandy is survived by her daughter, Michele R. (Thomas) Ganser of Warsaw, Indiana; two grandchildren, Grace E. Ganser, and Olivia A. Ganser; and her brother, Dennis G. (Linda) Hickman of Morocco, Indiana. She was blessed to have the love and support of her extended Cady and Ganser families in her life. Many nieces and nephews are also left to cherish her memory.
She was a 1969 graduate of North Newton High School, Morocco, Indiana. She worked as a beautician and real estate agent, retiring in 1992.
Sandy loved music. She played clarinet, bassoon, guitar, ukulele and piano. She played in the marching band, jazz band and orchestra, and she sang in the chorus, a barbershop quartet and the church choir.
She raised Yorkshire Terriers for many years and found tremendous joy with her puppies. Another of her favorite hobbies was water gardening, where she fed her fish and frogs and spent hours with the flowers and sounds of the waterfall. But above all, Sandy loved spending time with her family, especially during the holidays.
The family wishes to thank Ascent Hospice and her aide Ashley for taking such wonderful care of Sandy over the past 16 months.
Friends are invited to visit with the family on Saturday, August 24, 2024 from 11 a.m. until time of the funeral at 1 p.m. (Central Time) at Steinke Funeral Home, 101 E. Beaver St., Morocco, IN 47963. Pastor Bill Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Morocco. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to your local animal shelter.
