Sanford "Harold" Lykins, Jr. age 84 of Rensselaer passed away Thursday, February 3, 2011 at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis. He was born in Kentucky on January 11, 1927 a son of the late Sanford and Francis (Dunn) Lykins. He had been a resident of Jasper County for the past 12 years, having lived in various places including Lake Village, California and Arizona. Sanford was married to Rosemary (Whitten) Lykins. She survives.
Sanford was a Navy veteran and a member of the American Legion and the Masonic Lodge. He had been employed as sales representative for industrial camera companies and was Vice-President for Octi Camera Company in California prior to his retirement.
Surviving along with his wife are sons, Sanford Lykins, III of Carol Stream, IL and David Ford (wife: Tami) Lykins of Antioch, IL, daughters, Rose Lee (Mrs. Joseph) Krampen of Bethlehem, PA, Loretta Rowland of Rensselaer, Annette (Mrs. Tim) Stensland Badger, IA. There are 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildrren. A sister also survives, Freda Beckett of Norfolk, VA.
Sanford was preceded in death by his parents and 9 siblings.
Family suggests memorials be made to that of Donor’s Choice. Friends may visit with the family at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer on Monday, February 7, 2011 from 9:00 A.M. until time of service at 11:00 A.M. Interment with Military Services will follow at Weston Cemetery.
