Scott Eugene Purdy

Scott Eugene Purdy, 56, of Morocco, IN passed away Friday, September 30, 2022 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN. He was born in Newton County on November 14, 1965, the son of Howard Francis Purdy and Ruby Mae (Wooton) Purdy. He was a graduate of Donovan High School.

Scott worked as a welder at Talbert Manufacturing in Rensselaer. He loved fishing, hunting, camping and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Megan De La Garza (Alex) of Lafayette; his sister, Donna Brown (Randy) of Remington; five grandchildren: Nevaeh, Reagan, Wyatt, Brea and Allie; one niece, Amanda Cornell of Lafayette; one nephew, Jason Cornell (Dawn) of Morocco; one great-niece, Marissa Cornell; two great-nephews, Kyler and Keaton Cornell; and special cousin Carolyn Mathew (Kay Kay).

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Per Scott’s wishes, cremation will take place. The family is planning a celebration of Scott’s life for a later date. Contributions in Scott’s memory may be made to the Oncology Department at Franciscan Health Rensselaer.
