Shaun Adam Hinson

May 20, 1979 — Aug 20, 2026

Rensselaer, IN

Shaun Adam Hinson, born May 20, 1979, in Rochester, Indiana, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2026, after an unexpected battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family. Though his time with us was cut short, Shaun’s legacy and his impact on those he loved will be felt for years to come.

Shaun was the embodiment of strength wrapped in warmth. Known for being “big and tough,” he was also a man of enormous heart and could make anyone laugh.

One of Shaun’s dearest passions was working on speakers and sound systems, and in the simple joys of spending quality time with his family. Whether it was an evening tinkering with sound equipment or precious hours spent together with his children, these moments were Shaun’s treasures.

Shaun was at his core a proud father. He took immense pride in the lives and accomplishments of his children, always encouraging, always supporting, and always present. He is survived by the love of his life, Shelly Bailey; his sons Cody Hinson, Brian Hinson, Mark Cates, Shaun Hinson, and Jonah Hinson; and his daughters Kaylee Cates and Leila Hinson. He is also survived by his brothers David (wife Amanda) Hinson, Blake (wife Terri) Hinson, and Jason Hinson, and many nieces and nephews.

Shaun was preceded in death by his father, Charles Douglas Hinson; his mother, Barbara Ann Warfel Hinson; and his beloved son, Logan Hinson, whose memories Shaun carried tenderly in his heart.

Shaun’s life is a tapestry woven with hard work, loving devotion, and the kind of steadfast presence that lifts families up. Those who knew him will remember his pride in his children, his dedication to his craft, and the unmistakable warmth he offered to all.

Private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Steinke Funeral Home to assist the family with funeral expenses. Steinke Funeral Home is honored to be handling the arrangements.
