Shirley J. Alliss

Shirley J. Alliss, age 79, of Beaverville, IL passed away unexpectedly at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee, IL on Saturday evening, August 30, 2014. Shirley was born August 4, 1935, in Kentland, IN a daughter of Gerald Allen and was raised by the late Owen and Doris Hunter. She graduated from the Morocco High School and lived in Morocco for 60 years before moving to White House, TN where she lived for 16 years before moving to Beaverville. On July 24, 1954, in Morocco, she married Fred Alliss who preceded her in death. Shirley was a homemaker and was affiliated with the United Church of Morocco. She was an avid reader, enjoyed watching sports and spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving are her children: Ricky D. Alliss (Lois) of Moyock, NC; Michael D. Alliss (Shontel) of Whitehouse, TN; Shelley J. Gordon (Edward) of Springfield, IL; Becky J. Fellmy (Jim) of Mt. Ayr, IN; Mark D. Alliss of Beaverville, IL; Jeffery D. Alliss (Lenore Sharp) of Valparaiso, IN. Ten grandchilren and 5 great-grandchildren also survive.

Sisters surviving are: Barbara Pettet Regnier and Linda Bower both of Lafayette, IN. A brother, Michael Allen of Wilhoit, AZ also survives.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Fred Alliss; father, Gerald Allen; Owen and Doris Hunter, five brothers and a grandson, Tim Gordon.

Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 from 4 until 8 P.M. at the Steinke Funeral Home of Morocco. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. at Steinke Funeral Home of Morocco with Pastor Dennis Morros officiating.
