Stanley Harrison

October 13, 1919 — February 18, 2011

Stanley A. Harrison age 91 of DesPlaines, IL, formerly of Morocco, IN, passed away Friday evening, February 18, 2011 at Rensselaer Care Center. Stanley was born in Morocco on October 13, 1919, son of the late Charles Ellsworth and Nellie Mae (Pickering) Harrison. He graduated from Morocco High School and Butler University in Indianapolis. Mr. Harrison served in the U.S. Army Air Corp as Staff Sergeant. He resided in the Chicago area after serving in the Army.


In 1941 he married Maxine Kay. She died in 1950. He then married Katherine Jacobs in 1969. She preceded Stanley in death in 1996. Stanley worked for the railroad since 1946 retiring from CSX in 1980. He was a member of the Morocco American Legion and Masonic Lodge.


Surviving are a son, Tom (wife, Kathie) Jacobs of Lake Zurich, IL; granddaughter Christine (Mrs. Matthew) McGuinn of Glen Ellyn, IL; grandson Robert Jacobs of Lake Zurich, IL; 2 great grandchildren, Meghan McGuinn and Colin McGuinn both of Glen Ellyn. Brother Vane “Speed” Harrison and niece, Karen (Mrs. Michael) McClatchey of Morocco; 2 nephews, Jimmie (Wife, Lois) of Schwenkesville, PA and Charles (wife, Kaye) Harrison of Seminole, FL.


Preceding Stanley in death were his parents, both wives and brother Herschel Harrison.


Friends may call at Steinke Funeral Home Brunton Chapel in Morocco from 10 A.M. until time of funeral service at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, February 23, 2011. Pastor Thomas Vance officiating. Military Graveside Rites and interment at Oakland Cemetery.
