Sue A. Pilipovich

Sue A. Pilipovich, 47, of Rensselaer, passed away after a brief illness Friday, Nov. 29, 2013 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born in Gary Dec. 25, 1965, the daughter of Alleta (Swift) Smith and the late Ronald Smith.

On Sept. 17, 2005, Sue married Dan Pilipovich. He preceded her in death Jan. 30, 2013. Sue was a small business owner. She owned and operated Sue’s Special Occasions and Game Land in Rensselaer. She also worked as a cook at St. Joseph’s College, a cashier at Strak & VanTil and for the CDC. She attended Victorious Life Assembly of God Church. Sue enjoyed painting and making quilts and afghans. Sue loved Christmas and she enjoyed playing Mrs. Santa Claus. But most of all she enjoyed just spending time with her family.

Sue is survived by her loving family: her mother, Alleta Smith of Rensselaer; children: Travis Sulcer (girlfriend: Ashley Rayburn) of Lafayette, Allisha Smith of Rensselaer, and Brandi Pilipovich of Rensselaer; four brothers: Wayne Smith of Rensselaer, Randy Smith (wife: Jacqueline) of Tennessee, Robert Lee “Bobby” Smith, and Cyrus Smith of Texas; two sisters: Rhonda Borchert (husband: Raymond) of Lowell, and Victoria Haffner (husband: Doug) of Texas; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Dan Pilipovich; her father, Ronald Smith; and a brother, Ronald Smith, Jr.

Friends may visit with the family Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013 from 10 a.m. until time of service at noon (CST) at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. Pastor Melvin Lane officiating.
