Susan Lyn Miller, née Sipkema was called Home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 16, 2026. Born on June 21, 1963 to Robert S. and Carol (Bultema) Sipkema in Rensselaer, Indiana, Susan lived a life marked by compassion, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to those she loved and served. She was a member of The Venture Church in Naples, Fl.
Susan graduated from Kankakee Valley High School in 1981. Her journey in healthcare began with the earning of her nursing degree in 1984 from Ivy Tech Community College in Lafayette, Indiana. Her career as a nurse was both varied and impactful. While residing in her hometown of Rensselaer, she lent her skills and care to the Rensselaer Care Center, Jasper County Hospital, and the Jasper County Health Department, touching many lives along the way. Upon relocating to Florida, she continued her vocation as the Charge Nurse at Collier County Jail, where her leadership and kindness were deeply appreciated.
Known for her loving, kind, and giving nature, Susan was not only a dedicated nurse but also a passionate caretaker of animals and nature. Among her hobbies, she found great joy in raising Mini Rex rabbits, as well as birds, chickens, ducks, and geese—joyfully participating in the miracle of new life. She loved helping the youth 4-H group with the knowledge she had with rabbits. She treasured time spent outdoors, especially at the beach or along the Gulf of Mexico, delighting in observing water birds, searching for turtles and shells, and engaging in her beloved pastime of fishing. She also loved hiking in National Parks and especially the tranquillity of campfires, along with reading mystery books. These moments reflected her serene appreciation for life’s simple pleasures and the natural world.
Susan’s proudest accomplishments were a testament to her deep values: earning her RN, marrying the love of her life, Greg T. Miller, and raising a loving family. Her dedication to family was a cornerstone of her life, and she leaves behind a legacy cherished by many.
She is survived by her devoted husband Greg T. Miller of Naples, Florida, and their three sons: Adam Miller and his wife Meredith of Rensselaer, Indiana; Bradley Miller and his wife Veronica of Wolcott, Indiana; and Jeffrey Miller and his wife Samantha of Rensselaer, Indiana. Susan was a beloved grandmother to five grandchildren—Charlotte, Brock, Amelia, Cooper, and Suzy—whose lives she enriched with her warmth and care.
Susan’s family circle also includes her brothers Simon Sipkema and his wife Kathy, Ralph Sipkema and his wife Maryanne, and Randy Sipkema. Her sister Rhonda Koblinski and her husband Richard, also her sister-in-law Sandra Sipkema. She also cherished her relationship with several nieces and nephews who will remember her fondly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Robert L. Sipkema, and her sister-in-law, Nancy Sipkema.
Susan Lyn Miller’s life was one of service, love, and kindness. She touched countless lives with her gentle spirit and unwavering dedication, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know her. Her memory remains a beacon of warmth and strength for her family and community.
