Thomas J. Burnside, 38, of rural Morocco, passed away unexpectedly at his home Friday evening, March 25, 2011. He was born December 8, 1972 in Rensselaer, son of James Thomas and Florence Ann (Bertram) Burnside.
Tom was a lifetime Newton County resident and graduated from North Newton High School in 1991. On November 17, 2001, in Morocco, he married Hope R. (Saulsgiver). She survives. Tom was a heavy equipment operator for Local #150 in Countryside, IL and was affiliated with the United Church of Morocco.
Surviving is his wife, Hope; mother, Florence of Morocco; and children, Cole Burnside and David Bellinger both at home. Also surviving is a sister, Diane Szczepanski (husband, Martin) of Morocco. Preceding him in death were his father, James Burnside and one brother, Bradley Burnside.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday, March 28, 2011 from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Morocco Community Center. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at the Morocco Community Center, Rev. Royal Voeller officiating. Interment follows at Oakland Cemetery in Morocco. The family suggests memorials to the Hemophilia Foundation, 5170 E. 65th St., Indianapolis, IN 46220. Steinke Funeral Home Brunton Chapel of Morocco is handling the arrangements.
