Wayne Stone

Wayne Stone, 68, of Francesville, Indiana passed away at his home on Sunday, October 7, 2018. He was born in Knott County, Kentucky on January 24, 1950, son of the late Herman Stone, Sr. and Louella (Bradley) Stone. The family moved to Jasper County, Indiana when Wayne was a young boy and he attended school in Teft and Wheatfield. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

Wayne was an entrepreneur. He liked tinkering around with cars, going to auction sales, and collecting antiques. He also enjoyed picking mushrooms.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 23 years, Betty Sarber; five children: Michele “Shelly” Howes, Wendy Stone (fiancé Andrew Money), Kevin Stone, Katrina Hughes, and Mathew Stone; two step-children: Melinda Sue Rowe and Daniel Wireman; six brothers: Charles (Kay) Stone, Herman (Dianne) Stone, Jr., Bruce Stone, James Stone, Steve (Sandy) Stone, and Mike (Amy) Stone; one sister, Sylvania (Charlie) Hershman; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Bonnie Jean Stone.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 11, 2018 from 9-11 a.m. (Central Time) at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 11 a.m. (Central Time) at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer with Pastor James Rowe officiating.
