William Dowty

William M. "Bill" "Tank" Dowty, Jr. passed away early Monday morning, September 15, 2008 at Lafayette St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was born in Rensselaer on August 5, 1945 and lived his entire life in Rensselaer. He was a 1964 graduate of Rensselaer High School. For 21 years he was employed as a truck driver for Morocco Sand & Gravel, retiring in 1989 due to failing health. On November 4, 1967 in Morocco he married Betty Jane Lowe. She preceded him in death on July 13, 1999. Bill was a member of Iroquois Valley Christian Church and had been a former member of the Rensselaer Moose Lodge. In his spare time Bill enjoyed gardening, travel, cooking, fishing and woodworking. He will be sadly missed by his family as well as all his many friends.
