William L. "Bill" Wood, age 77 of Rensselaer, passed away Thursday afternoon, July 30, 2009 at Jasper County Hospital, after battling cancer for a short time. He was born in Rensselaer, March 1, 1932, son of the late Landis L. and Josephine A. (Dayton) Wood. He had been a Rensselaer Resident 60 years residing in Indianapolis, Greenfield, Lafayette, Dunkirk and Hammond prior to moving to Rensselaer. On October 1, 1950 he married Marie Ann Frisk in Rensselaer. She survives. Bill had been educated in the Hammond and Rensselaer Schools. He was a Store Manager for Kroger's for 12 years, then spent 3 years doing construction. He was a Salesman for 25 years with Frito Lay and retired in 1988. He proudly served his country in the Indiana National Guard receiving an Honorable Discharge. He was a Charter Member of Moose Lodge #2272 and the American Legion of Rensselaer. He enjoyed fishing in Alabama, hunting, mushroom hunting and playing Euchre with friends and family. The family suggests memorials be made to GI Cancer Research at the IU Simen Cencer Center.
