Alta Marie (Morgan) Moit, 91, of Rensselaer, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2013 at the Rensselaer Care Center. She was born in French Lick on Oct. 10, 1921, daughter of the late William and Mabel (Bledsoe) Morgan. She graduated from French Lick High School in 1939 and went on to attend Indiana University. Alta moved to Indianapolis in 1941 and married the late Herbert Moit there on March 1, 1942.
Alta worked as a loan processor for various mortgage companies in Indianapolis until her retirement in 1985. In 1986 Alta moved to Rensselaer where she worked at Bank One and the Rensselaer Republican. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rensselaer where she was a member of the choir and the Ladies Missionary Circle.
Alta is survived by two sons, Bill (Lucy) Moit of Rensselaer and Tom Moit of Greenwood; one sister, Jeanette (Mrs. Ken) Himes of Salinas, CA; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; former husband Herbert Moit; one sister; and one grandson.
Friends may call on Saturday, March 2, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m. (CST) at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. Pastor Daniel Hester officiating.
