Obituary for Anastasia Sysock

ANASTASIA “STELLA” SYSOCK, age 91 of rural Rensselaer, passed away Saturday afternoon, September 18, 2010 at Jasper County Hospital. Stella was born in Philadelphia on July 4, 1919, daughter of the late Isaac and Anna Simon. Following her birth father’s death she was raised by her stepfather, Steve Kosinski and her mother Anna (Simon) Kosinski. Stella resided for a time in Chicago where on January 21, 1940 she married her husband Eli Sysock, Sr. He survives. She and Eli resided on a farm near Rensselaer for 70 years. Stella was a homemaker and enjoyed being with her family and friends. She was a very good cook and enjoyed preparing food for others to enjoy. Her garden and flowers were another of her enjoyments. Along with her husband Eli, Sr., Stella is survived by son, Eli Sysock, Jr. of Kouts, IN, daughter, Chris (Sysock) Sbertoli of Warrenville, IL, sister, Anna Steiskal of Charleston, IL, 6 grandchildren and 6 great grand children. Preceding Stella in death were her parents, stepfather and daughter, Olga (Sysock) Walsh. Friends may call at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer, Tuesday, September 21, 2010 from 10:00 A.M. until time of funeral at 1:00 P.M. Rev. Marjorie Egger officiating. Interment will follow at Weston Cemetery in Rensselaer. Memorials in honor of Stella may be made to the Jasper County Home Health.
