Obituary for Carrie Linduska

Carrie Evelyn "Cakkie" Murphey Linduska, age 96 of Morocco, a fifth generation descendant of John Murphey, the Founder of the town of Morocco, passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at Jasper County Hospital Alternacare. She was born in Morocco on March 24, 1915, daughter of the late James C. and Frances Bower Murphey. She graduated from Morocco High School with the class of 1933. Cakkie was a lifelong Morocco resident. On September 8, 1940 she married John Linduska. He preceded her in death in November, 1984.

Cakkie was an accountant and tax preparer, having received her training at Indiana University. She was a dedicated member of the United Church of Morocco and a member of the Daughters of American Revolution. Cakkie loved all things in nature: birds, deer and also the ever-changing landscapes of the four seasons. She also enjoyed going to garage sales, preparing taxes, keeping in touch with her high school classmates, her church and her many friends and family.

Cakkie is survived by: many great-nieces and nephews and her favorite companion, her dog Quincy. Preceding her in death were her sisters: Agnes Bertram, Nora Harris, Gertrude Swanson, Bethel Murphey; and brothers: James Elwood Murphey, Oscar Murphey, and Glenson Murphey.

The family will receive visitors on Thursday, March 15, 2012, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Steinke Funeral Home Brunton Chapel in Morocco. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 Noon with the Reverend Thomas Vance officiating. Internment will follow at Oakland Cemetery of Morocco. Memorials may be made to the United Church of Morocco.
