Obituary for Christine Goetz

Christine Goetz, age 91 of Rensselaer, formerly of DeMotte, passed away Saturday, June 9, 2012 at George Ade Memorial Health Care Center. She was born in DeMotte on May 22, 1921, daughter of the late Simon and Anna (Douma) Sipkema. She was a lifelong resident of Jasper County.

Christine graduated from Fair Oaks High School in 1940. On December 19, 1944, in DeMotte, she married her husband of over 60 years, Kenneth Goetz. He preceded her in death on October 18, 2006.

Christine was a member of the First Reformed Church of DeMotte for over 50 years. She was also a member of the Royal Neighbors and the Priscilla Sewing Club. She liked playing the piano, putting puzzles together and doing word finds. Christine was a self-employed housekeeper and also worked as a housekeeper at St. Joseph’s College. She also had been employed at Schumacher Electric for 7 years.

Christine is survived by: daughter Sandy (Mrs. Bud) Allee of Rensselaer; son Glen (wife: Betty) Goetz of Sterling, FL; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Goetz, parents Simon and Anna Sipkema, and one brother.

Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. at the First Reformed Church, 9991 W 1200 North, DeMotte. Funeral services will be held at the First Reformed Church of DeMotte at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Dr. Roger Huitink officiating. Interment will follow at the Holland Cemetery in DeMotte. Memorials are suggested to the family.
