Cleva Whaley, 69, of Morocco passed away at her home Saturday morning, April 23, 2011. She was diagnosed with a brain tumor in April, 2010.
Cleva was born in Harrogate, TN on March 27, 1942, daughter of the late Joe and Martha Daniels Woodby. She graduated from Forge Ridge School in Harrogate, TN. However, she had lived in Morocco since the early 1960’s.
On June 27, 1964 in Morocco, IN she married Calvin C. Whaley. He survives.
Cleva had worked for several years at Northway Products in Rensselaer. She had been a waitress at the Lunchbox restaurant in Morocco and cashier at the Morocco IGA prior to her retirement 10 – 12 years ago. She had attended the Apostolic and Mt. Zion Churches and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Morocco.
Surviving with her husband are 2 daughters and 1 son: Lori (Mrs. Bill) Batchelor, Kathy Whaley (boyfriend, Vince Brown), all of Morocco and Marvin Martin (wife, Dana) of TN. A brother survives, Roger Woodby (wife, Erna) of Goodlettsville, TN, 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her only sister and 4 brothers.
Cleva loved gardening, canning, riding her bicycle, and walking. She most of all loved going to her grandchildren’s sporting events. Her family meant everything to her and she will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Friends may call on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 from 3 – 8 P.M. at Steinke Funeral Home Brunton Chapel in Morocco. Funeral services will be held at Steinke Funeral Home Brunton Chapel on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Royal Voeller officiating. Interment follows at Murphy Cemetery in Morocco.
