Delos A. “Curly” Bachman, age 87 of Rensselaer, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2012 at the Rensselaer Care Center. He was born in Rensselaer on July 25, 1924, son of the late Fred and Grace Duval Bachman. Curly spent most of his life in Milroy Township, but as a young man he also spent several years in Roanoke, IN. He graduated from Roanoke High School with the class of 1940. In October of 1951 in Huntington, IN he married his wife of 49 years, Irene Millican Bachman. She preceded him in death in December, 2000.

Curly was a farmer, a bus driver for the Rensselaer Central School Corp., and a truck driver for White Castle. He enjoyed restoring tractors and gas engines, hunting arrow heads, and music.

Curly is survived by five children: Sharon Wade (husband: Warren) of Burr Oak, MI, Denice Johnson (husband: Steve) of Delphi, Chris Jordan of Wolcott, Cindy Nagel of Rensselaer, and Carol Bachman of Delphi. 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren also survive, as well as his wonderful extended family at the Rensselaer Care Center. He was preceded in death by his wife Irene and a sister, Margaret Ann Bachman.

Friends may call Monday, March 12, 2012 from 9 – 11 a.m. at Steinke Funeral Home in Rensselaer. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Milroy Township Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Rensselaer Care Center.
