Frances H. Brooks, 87 of Remington, passed away November 7th at Rensselaer Care Center. She was born August 4, 1922 in Middletown, Ohio, a daughter of the late Minot and Minnie Katherine Roebuck. She had lived in Evanston, Ill, Remington and Logansport prior to moving to Rensselaer four years ago. She graduated from the Evanston High School in 1940. She was married Robert G. Brooks who preceded her in death. Along with being a homemaker, she had been a nursing assistant at the Rensselaer Care Center, George Ade, and at Jasper County Hospital, retiring in 1983. She was very active in her community and church; a member of the First Christian Church of Remington, American Legion Auxiliary, Tri Kappa, and Eastern Star. Surviving are a son, Robert “Bob” (Mary) Brooks of Proctor, Vermont and a daughter, Kathy Duncan of Logansport, 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, a brother and a sister. Friends may call on Wednesday, November 11th from 3 until 7 PM (Renss. Time) at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM (Renss. Time) on Thursday, November 12th with Pastor Rick Roscoe officiating. Interment will follow at the Remington Cemetery. Family suggests memorials to the Jasper County Chapter of the American Cancer Society.
